by Sep 29, 2020Key to Strength, Podcast

The art of collaboration is an attribute most successful leaders have mastered. But, it doesn’t always come easy.

From a young age we are taught how to work with others which builds our foundations for collaboration. Eventually, we begin to instinctively collaborate without even realizing it. These collaborations can be beneficial no matter what type of collaboration is occurring. Kay McDonald has seen Mary Holman in action through several mutual women’s groups and fundraising programs they have worked on together. For Mary, it DOES seem to come easy, like second nature, so we wanted to tap her secrets to inspire other women. Mary Holman knows how effective collaboration can be especially in leadership positions. She has a natural gift for working with and inspiring others to be their best selves. This natural gift helps in her job as Executive Vice President and Director of Private Banking at National Bank of Arizona.

Mary understands that collaboration can be very powerful when done correctly. She knows that there is power in connections and community. Having a father in politics and being president of a sorority herself shaped her ideology and foundations for collaboration. Through these situations, she learned the key to being a leader is listening and ensuring everyone is heard. May believes that everyone on the team should be successful and feel supported. The team should have their success always in mind no matter what they do. These tools have made her dedication to helping the community that much stronger. She understands that knowing what the community needs and the unique strategies to help can breed success in new ways.

On this episode of the Power of Charms Podcast and Video series, Kay sits down with Mary to discuss her thoughts on the importance of collaboration, working on our Key to Strength campaign, how collaboration creates new opportunities, and how to be an effective leader. View their conversation below.
